Sing Your Heart Out!

Tomorrow we are hosting our annual philanthropy Sing Your Heart Out, and are so excited for an evening full of food, songs, fun, and charity! We have been preparing for months, getting everything in order and now that the event is finally here we cannot wait and hope that everyone has a great time. Friends, family, alumni, and members of the other Greek organizations are all coming together to help us raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation, which provides awareness and funding for women's cardiac care. It is such a good cause and we are very glad that we get to help make a contribution to this amazing philanthropy.

ATO Mixer

Last Thursday night we got together with the gentleman of Alpha Tau Omega and learned to dance the Salsa! It was so much fun spending time with ATO while also bonding with our sisters some more, and by the end of the mixer we were all Salsa pros who couldn't stop our dancing feet! Then, to top the night off, we got to eat ice cream sandwiches from Diddy Riese which were absolutely delicious. We didn't even have to feel bad about consuming the extra calories since we had just burned a whole bunch off by doing latin dance! This mixer was such a success and now we can't wait to show off our new dance moves at Spring Formal...well maybe not, but it was still a great time!

Psi U Think You Can Dance

This past Tuesday, we participated in Psi Upsilon's "Psi U Think You Can Dance." Seven of our lovely sisters performed a five minute dance routine and battled against the other sororities for a chance at first place in the philanthropy. They did such an amazing job and represented Alpha Phi wonderfully. We had a great time cheering them on and watching the other sororities dance too. Everyone did such a good job! We even came with signs to show our pride and support for Alpha Phi, and loved being able to help Psi U and the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation.

Date Night!

Last night our chapter roller skated the night away on our bi-annual date night. We met on campus with our wonderful dates and were whisked away on a limo and party bus, shortly after which, we arrived at a roller rink that we had completely to ourselves. It was so much fun spending time with our sisters and dates while showing off our mad skating skills. (Only like 5 people wiped out! Impressive, we know.) The event was also 1980's themed which definitely added to the craziness and fun. There were so many side pony-tails and neon colors that it looked like we were straight out of an 80's workout video! It was so great to enjoy a night full of sisterhood, friendship, and laughter, and we cannot wait for what the rest of the semester has in store.

ΑΦ ♥'s Pepperdine Basketball

Last night our chapter went to the Pepperdine men's basketball game to show our support for the team and our school. It was so much fun spending time with our sisters, showing our school spirit, and cheering on the Waves as they battled against the BYU Cougars.

Spring Rush Bid Night!

This past week we hosted rush for a spring of 2012 pledge class. We had a great time getting to know the girls who were rushing and on Thursday we held Bid Night where we welcomed into our chapter seven new sisters! This event was held at our president's apartment and was an evening full of fun and laughter. We are so excited that these lovely ladies are now members of Alpha Phi!

Sisters Back From Abroad

This semester we are so glad to have three of our lovely sisters back with us after spending a semester overseas! Alessandra McDowell, Ashley Rhame, and Paige Sutherland have been reunited with the chapter and we could not be happier. Alessandra spent the fall semester in Lausanne, Switzerland where she loved the experience of new cultures and adventures. One of the best parts of her time overseas was getting to visit Salzburg and see the places where Sound of Music was filmed, since it's a favorite movie of hers!

Ashley's time abroad was spent in Heidelberg, Germany, but she got to travel to many other countries and interact with people from all around the world as well. She spent lots of time with some of her Alpha Phi sisters and loved growing closer to them through these experiences. One of her favorite memories is getting to speak Japanese in Croatia! (who knew?)

Paige was on an entire different continent than our other two sisters, as she spent this past fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She loved getting to go to different countries throughout South America and was able to truly immerse herself in the culture. She grew very close to the other Pepperdine students in her program and had a great time getting to know everyone.

Our sisters had a wonderful time experiencing what the world has to offer this past fall, but we are so excited to have them all back with us here in Malibu!

Meet Our New President

We are so excited to now be able to call Bridget Corson the President of the Iota Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi! Bridget is a Business Administration major from Walker, Minnesota and a junior here at Pepperdine. This past summer she attended the Alpha Phi Emerging Leaders Institute at Butler University making her fully qualified for her newly elected position as Lady Superior. Bridget will be leading our sisterhood for the 2012 calendar year, and we cannot wait for what she has in store!

Christmas Mixer!

Last night we had a Christmas mixer with the gentlemen of Psi Upsilon. Wearing festive Christmas sweaters, decorating gingerbread houses, and exchanging white elephant gifts really helped put us in the mood of the holiday season. It was so much fun singing along to our favorite Christmas songs, drinking hot cocoa, and celebrating this time of year with our friends in Psi U!

Last night we danced the night away with our dates in Beverly Hills. It was the perfect way to spend a night with our sisters!
